The brain child of David Silver and Sarah Washburn, the September Project encourages American citizens to gather in public libraries on September 11th (Patriot Day). It is an exciting opportunity "to participate collectively and think creatively about our country, our government, our community, and encourage and support the well-informed voice of the American citizenry." Events will include public talks, round tables, performances, deliberations, and readings.
For a thoughtful consideration of this attempt to link patriotism with civic duty, see the recent entry in Alex Halavais' web log.
