Subject: Latency
The reason why online game (http://aoleonthemartiangirl.com) servers are regionalized primarily is due to latency issues. When you have a guy in japan playing with a guy in london and a guy in new york, you get a lot of lag due to the high latency between the distances of those conenctions.
